“Lone Star State of Mind” by Kent Mayhew (2004)

Tonight don’t think I’ll go into the city
think I’ll sit and watch the sun go down
sit and watch the fireflies turn right into stars
I’m feelin’ this way more often than again
call it Lone Star state of mind I’m in
back in that Lone Star state of mind again

Think I’ll pull out the old guitar and play the slow ones
listen to the crickets keeping time
sit and watch these old oak trees sway like dancers in the night
here in the honeysuckle wind
call it Lone Star state of mind I’m in
back in that Lone Star state of mind again

Up here on Han’s hill I ain’t in competition
been learning to live life more like it was meant to be
and tonight those city lights feel just like a stranger
and these hills more like an old friend
call it Lone Star state of mind i’m in
back in that Lone Star state of mind again

Well lately I’ve been spending my time
here in a Lone Star state of mind
